Last updated: September 14, 2026. Groww Watchlist Pro is built on the belief that your trading watchlists, setups, and notes belong solely to you.
1. 100% Local Storage Principle
Groww Watchlist Pro operates completely offline inside your browser. All your watchlists, ticker symbols, color tags, and stock notes are stored strictly on your local machine using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API.
No data is ever uploaded, synchronized, or transmitted to any external server or cloud database.
2. Zero Analytics, Tracking, or Advertising
The extension does not contain any analytics libraries (e.g. Google Analytics, Mixpanel), telemetry engines, crash reporters, or advertising networks. We have zero knowledge of what stocks you watch, what screeners you import, or how frequently you trade.
3. Extension Permissions Explained
- storage: Used solely to persist your watchlists, notes, and theme preference locally on your machine.
- tabs & activeTab: Used to update the active Groww tab URL when you select a stock from your watchlist, and to open the onboarding welcome page upon installation.
- scripting: Used to inject the dockable watchlist side panel inside Groww chart pages.
- Host Permissions (groww.in, 915.trade, chartink.com): Restricted strictly to Groww chart pages (to dock the panel) and Chartink screener pages (to display the 1-click Import button).
4. Data Export & Portability
You own all your data. You can export your watchlists at any time to CSV, or download a full JSON backup file from the Settings panel. You can delete all your stored data anytime by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in Chrome settings.
